Challenge Almere-Amsterdam signs a new sponsorship with GPS-Buddy: innovation with safety!

 In News

All medical vehicles and a large proportion of the motorbikes that will be used during CHALLENGEALMERE-AMSTERDAM, will be equipped with a GPS system from the company GPS-Buddy. This because of an earlier this week signed sponsorship for at least three years between the two companies. “This collaboration fits perfectly within the vision of our company”, explains Desmond van Kooten, International Sales Director at GPS-Buddy. Health is an important item for our company. If you’re not healthy, you can’t work well either. That’s why we love to sponsor a sport event as this amazing triathlon.”

The sponsorship is mainly expressed in equipping the medical cars and many motorbikes with a GPS system. This allows the organisation of CHALLENGEALMERE-AMSTERDAM not only to keep an excellent eye on where, for example, the first and last participant is on the track, but also to act faster when necessary. “An important part for us is organizing a safe race. Tracking where someone is, is a very important part of that. A large part of our radio traffic consists of questions about where someone is. This applies not only to athletes, but also to our medical services. So it’s great that we can start using these GPS systems, so that we have direct insight into the current location of them. In this way, we will achieve an even better communication”, says Race Director Richard Belderok on behalf of the organisation.

Carola Rijnbeek, Marketing Manager at GPS-Buddy, is also very pleased with the new sponsorship. “We have a lot of affinity with sports and ‘being active’. But also with local initiatives. This is how we found CHALLENGEALMERE-AMSTERDAM. Sport simply brings people together. Not only we noticed this, but it is also the vision of the triathlon in Almere.”

About CHALLENGEALMERE-AMSTERDAM

Almere is famous in the history of the triathlon. After Hawaii, the Holland Triathlon is the oldest triathlon in the world. Almere is home to the Dutch triathlon sport, with two sports clubs, a regional Topsport Centre and many individual athletes.

Special winners were pioneers such as Axel Koenders and Gregor Stam, but also Gerrit Schellens, Frank Heldoorn and Georg Potrebitsch. Yvonne van Vlerken, Heleen bij de Vaate and Chrissie Wellington have been on the women’s podium in recent years. Several European and World Championships have been held in Almere. The fastest race – 7 hours and 55 minutes – was realised by Jaroslav Kovacic in 2018. In 2019 Almere will once again organize the European Long Distance Championships and one year later – in 2020 – various World Championships.
