Challenge Almere-Amsterdam ‘Solo Challenge’

While next Saturday our Long Distance would take place, unfortunately everything goes a little different this year. No races this week, we can’t welcome you at our finish line and we will have to wait another year for a week full of spectacular triathlon races. But, of course we don’t want to let the 2020 edition of CHALLENGEALMERE-AMSTERDAM ‘just’ pass us by.

Therefore we challenge you to participate in the CHALLENGEALMERE-AMSTERDAM ‘Solo Challenge’. What does this challenge involve?

– From Saturday September 12th you’ll have until Wednesday September 30th to do a 90km bike ride and run 21.1km on the annual CHALLENGEALMERE-AMSTERDAM course. The courses can be found here: bike course & run course. These deviate slightly from the original courses, because of course we won’t follow the roads used by cars.

– Both bike and run needs to be completed on the same day.

-During the Solo Challenge you will be a regular traffic participant. This means that you have to abide by all traffic rules and do not use the highway. During your bike ride, you will stay on the bike paths. This means that you do not follow the Poortdreef (but the bike path along the Almeerderstrand, see GPX) and from the Stichtse Brug you also skip a piece of highway, but follow the bike path at the dike. Safety comes first and participation is at your own responsibility and risk.

-We choose not to add a swim to the Solo Challenge. The Weerwater – the lake where our CHALLENGEALMERE-AMSTERDAM swim always takes place – is a recreational lake where a lot of pleasure boating takes place. For safety’s sake we only challenge you for a bike and run.

-Send us – before October 1st – the results of your bike and run (on info@challenge-almere.com and with ‘Solo Challenge’ in the subject line) so that we can make a virtual ranking based on the total times. We randomly raffle off five goodie bags among the participants. For this we don’t look at who is the fastest.

Have fun!
